How do I stay updated before and during the wedding?
To stay updated on transport, timing, and last-minute details, please join our Wedding Community WhatsApp Group! This is the most reliable way to stay connected in France using Wi-Fi or data. By joining, you’ll receive real-time updates for shuttle pick-ups and event starts, have a central place to ask questions, and be able to coordinate group hangouts or share candid photos. The "Community" format is great because it allows you to join only the specific sub-groups you're interested in, ensuring you won't be spammed with irrelevant messages. If you haven't been added yet, please check your WhatsApp or reach out to Emily or Aaron to get set up!
Is transportation provided between the chateau and Combourg?
Yes, we will provide a shuttle service for all chateau events for guests staying in Combourg. All pickups and drop-offs will take place at the statue outside the Hôtel Restaurant du Château. Shuttles are scheduled to depart starting at 6:45 PM for Wednesday’s cocktail party, 3:15 PM for the wedding on Thursday, and 10:45 AM for the Friday brunch. Please stay tuned to our WhatsApp Community group for real-time updates, last-minute schedule changes, or to ask any questions regarding transit.
Is there parking at the chateau?
Yes, plenty!
What do I have to coordinate for the day trips?
All transportation and entrance fees are our treats to you! Please just make sure you are at the pick up spot in town and on the bus at the right time. :) Additional communications will take place closer to the event - check the WhatsApp group for more details.
For the Dinard and Mont St Michel Day trips, where will you be picking up guests in Combourg?
Our private tour bus will pick up guests staying in Combourg that are attending the Mont St. Michel and Dinard day trips. All pickups and drop-offs will take place at the statue outside the Hôtel Restaurant du Château. The bus is scheduled to depart promptly from Combourg at 9:00 AM for Mont St Michel on Monday and at 10:00 AM for Dinard on Tuesday. Please ensure you are at the pick up spot on time. Stay tuned to our WhatsApp Community group for real-time updates, last-minute schedule changes, or to ask any questions regarding day trips.
When do I need to RSVP by?
We ask that you let us know as soon as you are able if you plan on attending as space is extremely limited at the venue.
When should I make my hotel reservation by?
If you have not yet made your reservation, we recommend you do so ASAP. Combourg is a small town, and so are the hotels - the longer you wait, the higher the risk your first choice hotel gets booked up.
Do I have to attend every event during the week?
Nope! But we really hope you at least attend the Welcome Party and Wedding. :) However, please do RSVP to all events you plan on attending so we can make accommodations accordingly. If you don't let us know you plan on coming to an event, we won't make sure you are on the bus!
What should I wear?
It depends on the event! Each event has its suggested dress code listed on our website. For events around the chateau, keep in mind that the ground may be uneven (walking through gravel paths or grass), so we suggest wedges, block heels, or flats for women. Also, many of the events on the chateau grounds will be a mix of indoors and outdoors - we suggest making sure you have an outer layer you can take on and off easily in the case of cooler weather.
What does "Black Tie Optional" mean?
We suggest "Chateau Chic" attire to match our elegant countryside setting: Black Tie is encouraged but optional, meaning guests are welcome to wear a formal tuxedo or a floor-length gown, while a dark suit and tie or a sophisticated cocktail dress are also perfectly appropriate. Since we will be celebrating at a historic French estate, we recommend choosing breathable fabrics for comfort and opting for block heels or wedges, as the chateau’s gravel paths and manicured lawns can be tricky for traditional stilettos.
What should I make sure I pack?
We suggest making sure you pack at least the following:
1. Light Jacket or Coat: A windbreaker or a light waterproof jacket is essential for unpredictable weather.
2. Comfortable Shoes: A good pair of walking shoes for sightseeing or strolling along coastal paths (waterproof shoes are a bonus).
3. Swimwear: The chateau has a pool that will be heated and open during the post-wedding brunch!
4. Adapters for Electronics: France uses type C and E plugs, and the voltage is 230V with a frequency of 50Hz.
Where are you registered?
We aren't registered anywhere and don't plan to. Many of you will travel long distances to share our wedding day with us, so your presence is present enough! That said (and only for those that insist), contributions towards our honeymoon would really make our day (click the "Registry" page on our website for more details).
